Thinking about SEO (5)

Backlinks

In many search engines, the number and quality of backlinks - usually called "backlinks" - is used to assess the popularity of a website, which then has an impact on the ranking. It is not the quantity of backlinks that is decisive, but in particular the quality of the pages that contain them. It is therefore possible to significantly improve the ranking of a website if it is possible to position appropriate links on it (hence the term "backlink") on the web. In contrast to on-page optimization, however, the website operator can exert little influence here. He can usually only hope that visitors to his website find it so interesting that they themselves place a link on their own website, in a blog or in social media.

However, there are still ways to actively build backlinks yourself. Of course, you can also hire service providers for this purpose, but this is usually not advisable, since spamming backlinks in particular is easily detected by search engines and then almost inevitably leads to a negative rating (up to exclusion from the index). So how can you create backlinks to your own websites without appearing as a spammer? There are a few possibilities for this, which will only be briefly listed here as food for thought:

Note: You can monitor your backlink building via appropriate SEO tools (e.g. Seobility).

Logging the website into Google Search Console

Google Search Console (GSC) gives you the possibility to find out and monitor all sorts of data, such as the time course of click numbers, the number of impressions or the number of indexed pages of your website (and much, much more). Furthermore, Google Search Console provides a larger number of useful statistics, it warns about unnatural backlinks or about violations of Google guidelines, points out errors in the website and can thus optimally support you in search engine optimization. Moreover, it can be connected to Google Analytics - a tool that is of great importance especially for online marketers when it comes to continuously improving the web presence.

Note: Google needs some time to collect and evaluate relevant data. Therefore, you can expect first results in the dashboard for the corresponding URL only a few days after registration.

This section is only about what steps are necessary to submit a website created with "Cheetah" to Google Search Console.

Once that is done, Google will collect all activity related to that website and make it clearly available in the dashboard.

To register a website, the following steps are necessary:

The first thing to do, of course, is to log into Google Search Console via your Google account. In the main screen, an input field with (after clicking on it) the label "Search Property" and a pull-down menu, which possibly lists the URL's of the already registered websites, appears in the left margin menu at the top. At the bottom you will find the menu item "+ Add Property", which we now click on:
